Greetings, Comadres. We had a great Q&A session with Dr. Lourdes Rodriguez, Comadre and the new CEO of The Rockefeller Fund. One of the things discussed was a life-work balance. Lourdes makes it her mission to always have time for her family – collectively and individually. She had three teenage sons and has a Life Skills List for them which she has graciously shared. See below.

Queridas Comadres, that was SO MUCH FUN! Thanks for having me. As promised, see list below.
LIFE SKILLS LIST (in no particular order)
1. Learn how to pray for self and others
2. Understand and do your taxes
3. Do laundry
4. Cook at least five different meals
5. Thread a needle and replace a button, mend clothes
6. Fill out medical forms and make doctor’s appointments
7. Use public transportation
8. Clean a bathroom
9. Load a dishwasher
10. Go grocery shopping
11. Iron clothes
12. Bake a loaf of bread from scratch
13. Practice first aid basics
14. Read a nutritional label
15. Learn to drive
16. Make a household budget
17. Make a reservation (restaurant, or hotel)
18. Post a letter
19. Book a flight
20. Learn to dance with a partner (preferably salsa)
21. Learn good sleeping habits (in Elisa’s words: sleep an entire day)
22. Have good study habits
23. Learn the art of haggling: “ask: Can you do any better?”
